Expression of Interest: Family Physician
Under One Sky Friendship Centre is inviting expressions of interest from family physicians who may be interested in helping establish a culturally safe, Indigenous-led Collaborative Care Clinic within our new Cultural Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Under One Sky is New Brunswick’s only Friendship Centre and has supported Indigenous individuals and families for more than 20 years through community-based health, family, cultural, and social programming. Our new 21,000-square-foot facility includes a purpose-built health clinic designed to provide accessible, trauma-informed and community-centred care in a welcoming environment created by and for Indigenous Peoples.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a family physician who is interested in practicing within the clinic. The physician would work alongside Under One Sky and health-system partners to develop a collaborative primary care model that responds to the needs of urban Indigenous people living in Fredericton and surrounding communities.
About the Space
Our health clinic includes:
- Two clinical exam rooms;
- A flexible counselling and clinical room;
- A home-like birthing suite;
- Reception and administrative space;
- Clinical storage and staff workspace; and
- Access to mental health and family wellness supports.
Practice Configuration
Under One Sky welcomes expressions of interest from physicians considering a range of possible practice arrangements, including:
- Full-time practice;
- Part-time practice;
- A shared arrangement involving more than one physician;
- A gradual or phased commitment as the clinic develops; or
- A practice arrangement combined with other clinical, academic or community work.
The final physician FTE, patient panel, remuneration model and contractual structure will be determined in collaboration with the physician, Under One Sky, and clinic funders.
We would especially like to hear from physicians who:
- Are licensed or eligible for licensure to practice family medicine in New Brunswick;
- Are committed to respectful, culturally safe and trauma-informed care;
- Value collaborative and interdisciplinary practice;
- Are interested in comprehensive and relationship-based primary care;
- Recognize the effects of social and structural factors on health;
- Are comfortable working with patients and families who may have complex health and access needs;
- Are interested in contributing to the development of a new model of care; and
- Are willing to learn through relationships with Indigenous community members, staff, Elders and partners.
Indigenous physicians, physicians with experience in Indigenous health, and physicians who are interested in developing their knowledge and practice in this area are warmly encouraged to express interest.
How to express interest
Interested physicians are invited to submit an expression of interest that includes:
- A brief description of their interest in the opportunity;
- A current curriculum vitae;
- Their preferred clinical commitment or FTE;
- Whether they would consider a shared or phased arrangement;
- Their anticipated availability; and
- Any questions or conditions they would like to discuss.

Expressions of interest will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with an initial review beginning August 28th.
This is an exploratory Expression of Interest and not a finalized offer of employment or contract. Physician remuneration, funding, patient-panel expectations, FTE and contractual arrangements remain subject to discussion and approval through the applicable provincial Collaborative Care Clinic process.
